WE FOCUS ON COMMUNITY SERVICE & KIDS VISION

EVENTS We are heavily involved in the Founders Day Festival and Christmas on Mercer Street

SUPPORT Through our fund raising activities, we provide scholarships to Dripping Springs High School students, support the Texas Lions Camp, which is a free residential camping facility for children with physical disabilities, type 1 diabetes and cancer. We make supporting contributions to community organizations such as, the Friends Foundation in the Dripping Springs area.

VISION We provide free vision screenings as part of the KidSight USA, a nationwide program to safeguard the vision of children aged 6 months through 6 years.
  • According to educational experts, 80% of learning is visual. Yet most young children don’t get their vision screened until they have problems learning or paying attention in school. By then, it may already be too late. Unless vision problems are detected early and corrected, they risk becoming permanent after age 7.
  • Our mission is to ensure eye screening and follow-up care is given to all kids because every child deserves to learn and see the world clearly. Lazy eye is often easily cured if caught during the critical period of vision development before the age of seven. Listen to mother Bruchett tell the story of how Lions helped save Cross's eye sight through a vision screening.

LIONS SERVE COMMUNITIES Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world because they share a core belief – to serve their community. We are best known for fighting blindness, but we also volunteer for many different kinds of community projects – including caring for the environment, fighting hunger and aiding seniors and the disabled.

LIONS SAVE SIGHT Our sight programs include vision screenings, equipping hospitals and clinics, distributing medicine,  and raising awareness of eye disease.

LIONS SERVE YOUTH Our projects support children and schools through scholarships, recreation and mentoring. Lions offer many programs, including a Peace Poster Contest, Youth Camps and Youth Exchange, Leo Clubs, and Lions Quest.

LIONS AWARD GRANTS Since 1968, the Lions Clubs International Foundation has awarded more than US$700 million in grants to support Lions humanitarian projects around the world.

LIONS HELP DURING DISASTERS Lions aid in disaster relief by providing for immediate needs such as food, water, clothing and medical supplies – and aiding in long-term reconstruction.
